Christian Woman & Earrings
1-In
Egypt (and other pagan nations), earrings functioned as amulets—objects believed to carry supernatural
power:
Common
symbols:
Eye of Horus (protection magic)
Scarab beetle (rebirth & afterlife)
Sun disk (solar deity Ra)
Crescent moon (goddess worship)
People believed earrings would:
Protect the soul
Block evil spirits
Bring fertility
Connect them to their gods. This was witchcraft and idolatry, not decoration.
2. Jacob made his family remove earrings before
approaching God
Genesis 35:2–4
Jacob told his household to:
Put away strange gods
Purify themselves
Remove all earrings
He buried them under the oak at
Shechem.
Why?
Because earrings represented:
Idols
Pagan protection magic
Dedication to foreign gods
They could NOT enter God’s
presence with objects tied to demonic
worship.
Christian women today follow the
same principle:
“Remove anything that represents spiritual bondage or darkness.”
3. Christian identity comes from God, not objects
In paganism, an amulet
“protected” you.
In Christianity:
God protects
The Holy Spirit seals you
The blood of Jesus covers you
A Christian woman does not need:
magical charms
protection symbols
spiritual jewelry
Because her protection comes from
God alone.
4. Christian modesty is spiritual, not cultural
Christian women are called to:
Modesty, purity, humility, holiness
